Proctor Varsity Football Falls to Rome Free Academy in Section III Football Opener

  • Posted September 30, 2026

The Proctor Raiders played a hard-fought matchup against the Rome Free Academy Black Knights on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Utica.

Proctor’s Jai Phillips had a standout performance, finding the end zone four times as the Raiders built a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Despite the deficit, Rome Free Academy rallied in the final quarter, scoring 13 unanswered points to complete the comeback and earn a 27-26 victory over Proctor in the Class AA-2 opener for both teams.

RFA’s victory ended Proctor’s eight-game winning streak in the historic local rivalry, which dated back to 2014.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Proctor football and cheer on the Raiders. The team appreciates your continued support throughout the season.
