Welcoming Back Our Students

At General Herkimer Elementary, the long-awaited day finally arrived, and the first day of the new school year is officially in the books! Our school came alive once again with vibrant energy, laughter and the undeniable excitement of fresh starts.

From pre-K students taking their very first steps into a classroom to sixth graders embarking on their final year before middle school, the day was filled with memorable moments. Teachers and staff lined the entrances to greet families, guiding eager students down decorated hallways to meet their new classmates and teachers.

Throughout the day, classrooms were filled with icebreaker activities, goal-setting projects and the reuniting of old friends. The halls were buzzing with stories of summer adventures, shared over lunches and recess. While first-day jitters are always to be expected, they quickly melted away into smiles as students settled into their new routines.

Building a strong and connected community starts on day one. Seeing our students return ready to learn, grow and support each other sets the tone for an incredible year ahead.
